Woven fibers in different arrangements in elastic dressings and bandages. When the body of a patient moves there would be tension and relaxation in multiple vectors which could be captured by the fibers to generate electrical charge, which can lead to improved wound healing. Certain versions may use graphene help store charge and/or the charge can be displaced directly to the skin, with the graphene serving as a local capacitor.

I hope everyone is doing well and I want to thank you guys for your interest in this concept. … This opens the technology that has potentially vast applications. …It appears that there are several ways to generate (fabricate) CNT, but vaporization process is common. This process uses a metal ion (usually copper) and seems to be the most productive and economic process.

The MWCNT/graphene combination described above could also be applied to a wide variety of non-spine orthopedic implants, including plates and prosthetic stems/surface interfaces. Other arenas for use include dental implants, and oral/maxillofacial implants.

Carbon fiber arrays may also be used in bandages and/or dressings where tension and relaxation due to the body movement can generate small electrical fields around a healing wound. Studies have shown enhanced wound healing with electrical field application and decreased infection.

MWCNTs may include carbon nanotubules (diameter <100nm). Concentric arrangement of these tubules – one tubule inside a larger one – distinguishes MWCNTs from single-walled carbon nanotubules. These MWCNTs may be arranged in parallel. Compressive forces acting perpendicular to the tubules will generate an electrical charge.
