“Query-conditioned content ranking” refers to a process in which information, data, records, documents, segments, entries, elements, objects, datasets, corpora, resources, or other informational units are evaluated, scored, ordered, filtered, prioritized, selected, or otherwise differentiated based at least in part on a comparison between characteristics of a user query and characteristics of the information being evaluated. Query-conditioned content ranking may include computing similarity metrics, relevance scores, distance measures, probabilistic estimates, embedding comparisons, keyword matching scores, weighting functions, heuristic evaluations, statistical models, machine-learned ranking functions, rule-based criteria, or other ranking mechanisms derived from or influenced by the user query. Such ranking may occur at query time and may influence which information is retrieved, assembled, accessed, generated, supplied, or otherwise used for further processing. Synonyms may include similarity ranking, relevance ranking, query-based ranking, query-driven scoring, nearest-neighbor selection, ranked retrieval, dynamic selection, or the like.
