“Correction” in a medical context refers to any change to the position, orientation, alignment, length, shape, or other anatomical characteristic of a structure, effected to improve a patient outcome. A correction may adjust, translate, move, orient, rotate, lengthen, shorten, realign, remodel, or otherwise modify an anatomical structure from an original state to a new state that provides a benefit to a patient. Benefits include, without limitation, improvement in function, pain relief, cosmetic appearance, biomechanics, stability, gait, range of motion, strength, or the like. A correction may be partial or complete, temporary or permanent, intraoperative or non-operative, and may be evaluated or expressed using distances, angles, axes, ratios, areas, volumes, or other quantitative or qualitative metrics, and the like.
A correction may be achieved using one or more procedures, instruments, devices, implants, software, or the like, performed manually, robotically, or via computer-assisted systems.
