"Minimally invasive surgery" or "minimal invasive surgery" (MIS surgery) refers to one or more surgical techniques that limits the size of incisions needed for a surgical procedure, thereby reducing wound healing time, associated pain, and risk of infection. Surgery by definition is invasive, and many operations requiring incisions of some size are referred to as open surgery. (Search "minimally invasive surgery" on Wikipedia.com Jan. 29, 2023.
