As used herein, a "lock-out mechanism" refers to an apparatus, instrument, structure, device, component, system, assembly, hardware, software, firmware, circuit, module, or logic structured, organized, configured, programmed, designed, arranged, or engineered to prevent, mitigate, or stop operation of a balance indicator of a gap gauge such that the balance indicator does not report a balance status when the gap gauge is actuated. In one embodiment, the lock-out mechanism can prevent rotation of a plate connected to the balance indicator of a gap gauge.
