The token directive may, however, include other pertinent information for forming the data segment token, such as at least one instance of the repeated, identical character or character string. The token directive may also include metadata, such as a data segment location, an address from a file system, location on a data storage device corresponding to the data segment, etc. One of skill in the art will recognize other information that may be included with a token directive. In one embodiment, the token directive generation module 1002 generates a data segment token along with the token directive.
