15. The expandable intervertebral implant of Claim 11, wherein the first mesh and the second mesh each comprise a first pattern and wherein the upper mesh and the lower mesh each comprise a second pattern, the first pattern and the second pattern each selected such that activation of the driver of the expansion mechanism causes a first predetermined increase in a distance between the upper plate and the lower plate that differs from a second predetermined increase in a distance between the first wall and the second wall.
