6. The expandable intervertebral implant of Claim 1, wherein the upper plate comprises an upper lattice and the lower plate comprises a lower lattice and wherein the expansion mechanism is configured such that activation of the expansion mechanism by the driver expands the upper plate and the lower plate away from each other along the cephalad-caudal axis and moves the first lattice and the second lattice away from each other along a medial-lateral axis by deforming the first lattice, the second lattice, the upper lattice, and the lower lattice.
