Advantageously, embodiments of the systems, methods, and apparatuses of the present disclosure are configured to enable a user and/or a surgeon to reposition bone models virtually from an original position to a new position to prepare for a planned procedure. The bones models are in the same position relative to each other as the bones of the patient. In contrast to some existing surgical techniques, the present disclosure enables a user or surgeon to move the model bones first to a new desired location and based on that new location design a patient-specific device that facilitates one or more osteotomies that enable this repositioning. Conventional techniques move a patient’s bones intraoperatively and then perform one or more osteotomies. With the present disclosure, the osteotomies are performed before surgery and virtually and the new position is used as a guide or reference, a reference feature, for designing and/or fabricating one or more aspects of a patient-specific device. Furthermore, the virtual osteotomies of model bones, enable movement of the bone modes by a surgeon to simulate a fusion of the bones and/or other repositioning and/or rotation without interference from bone material that is to be removed in a subsequent surgical procedure.
