In one embodiment, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may be configured and/or may include code executable by the processor 904 to determine a set of medical imaging 1030 for processing by the segmentor 1020 (e.g., which is an autosegmentor). For example, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may coordinate with the medical imager 1010 to identify a set of medical imaging 1030 for a particular patient. Next, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may determine that based on a particular medical procedure (e.g., Lapidus, Akin, Evans, etc.) that is planned for the patient, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may designate a set of files in the medical imaging 1030 and/or a series within the medical imaging 1030 for segmentation. In one embodiment, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may select a series for segmentation that includes a greatest number of images. Alternatively, or in addition, the patient-specific device design apparatus 450 may select a series that relates to hard tissue such as bone, again depending on the medical procedure to be performed on this patient.
